How to add library references to a project in Eclipse IDE


  1. Create a new java project, enter the name of the project and click on Next
  2. In the new dialog screen, click on the libraries tab
  3. Now, Click on the “Add external JARs..” button on the right hand side. A dialog will open asking for the path of the jar file. Navigate through the folders and select the desired jar file from your computer, and click on the “Open” button
  4. Now click on the “Finish” button

In case you have already created a project, then in the “Package Explorer” Pane on the left, Select the project that you want to add external libraries to. Now right click on the name of the folder, Click on “Build Path” in the pop up menu that opens. From then on, follow from Step number 3 above, by clicking on the “Add external JARs” in the pop up menu that opens.
